Memory dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease.
The group of GB Frisoni has a long lasting expertise in the field of Alzheimer's disease research. The main scientific interest in latest years has been on neuroimaging in cognitive impairment:
efforts have been directed to the translation of basic research for understanding the pathophysiology and helping the diagnosis of dementing disorders in clinical settings. Specific topics of
investigations have been:
- Interaction of genotype (mainly apoE) with phenotype in the degenerative dementias - In vivo neurobiology of Alzheimer disease and frontotemporal dementia with magnetic resonance imaging - Population epidemiology of mild cognitive impairment - The biological basis of behavioural disturbances in dementia, and imaging tools for the routine and advanced diagnosis of Alzheimer's and other dementias. In latest years they have applied the computational image analysis techniques that were successfully used to study Alzheimer's to psychiatric disorders.
