Plateforme d'Oncologie et Hématologie pédiatrique.
Le groupe travaille principalement dans deux thématiques :
Pharmaco-oncogénétique : Le Dr Marc Ansari a mené ses travaux en oncogénétique pédiatrique à l'Hôpital St Justine de Montréal (Canada) entre 2004 et 2007, grâce au soutien financier du Fonds National Suisse de la Recherche Scientifique. En 2007 il a rejoint le centre médical universitaire , où il a continué sa recherche sur le polymorphisme de certains gènes impliqués dans le métabolisme du Busulfan, agent chimiothérapeutique principal dans le cadre de la transplantation de cellules souches. Il a pu démontrer que les polymorphismes génétiques de certains gènes qui contrôlent les enzymes impliqués dans le métabolisme du Busulfan sont responsables de l'efficacité et de la toxicité de cet agent. Ce projet a été accepté en tant qu'étude multicentrique par l'European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). Ces travaux permettent de diminuer la toxicité des traitements chimiothérapeutiques et d'augmenter la survie des patients avec le cancer. Ces travaux permettent également d'adapter la dose des médicaments selon la génétique. Oncogénétique : Le groupe travaille également sur le gène suppresseur de tumeur ATM (Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated). Grâce à une collaboration avec le Children's Oncology Group (USA), la Dresse Gumy-Pause a obtenu de nombreux échantillons tumoraux indispensables à ses recherches. Son travail a tout d'abord porté sur les leucémies et les lymphomes de l'enfant, puis sur le neuroblastome. Elle a pu démontrer que dans le neuroblastome, la perte du gène ATM est un événement fréquent, et également un marqueur probable de mauvais pronostic. Le but à long terme de ses travaux serait d'adapter le traitement selon la présentation génétique de la tumeur, et de développer de nouvelles stratégies thérapeutiques. Dr Ansari a créé en 2011 la fondation CANSEARCH pour soutenir son laboratoire de recherche pédiatrique.
