Neuropsychologie clinique / appliquée et neurosciences cognitives
La recherche dans notre laboratoire suit trois axes ; i) recherche en neuropsychologie clinique (études de cas ou de séries de patients), ii) recherche fondamentale en neurosciences cognitives
(études portant sur le fonctionnement cérébral chez le sujet sain) ; iii) recherche en neuropsychologie appliquée (validation de tests à des fins de diagnostic ou de pronostic dans le cadre clinique).
En neuropsychologie clinique, les relations entre des dysfonctionnements cognitifs et des lésions focalisées sont explorées à la lumière de modèles actuels de la neuropsychologie cognitive. En recherche fondamentale, un premier thème porte sur les mécanismes cérébraux impliqués dans le traitement visuel et attentionel chez les sujets sains au moyen des différentes techniques d¿imagerie cérébrale. Un deuxième thème explore les processus sémantiques et lexicaux intervenant dans le traitement et la production du langage chez des sujets bilingues. Finalement, pour répondre à des questions pratiques rencontrées dans le milieu clinique (telles que la latéralisation hémisphérique du langage chez un patient donné), des épreuves psychométriques sont développées et validées chez dans la population normale avant d¿être utilisées dans le contexte clinique.
